Poker is a card game played between two or more players. Each player has chips (money to bet) which they place into the pot before betting rounds start. A player’s goal is to make a poker hand of five cards using their own two cards and the community cards. The highest hand wins. Sometimes a weak hand can win by being the last one to call (bluff). The game also involves bluffing, which is when a player pretends they have a strong hand in order to scare their opponents into folding.

The game is played on a table with two or more players and the cards are dealt face up or down depending on the rules of the particular game. After the first round of betting, a fifth card is dealt (“River”). Players then reveal their hands and the winner is the player with the strongest poker hand.
